Twitter Now Available in Right-to-Left Languages

by Zealous Zoe — Categories: MyGlobalSearch — Tags: , , , , Comments Off

In MyGlobal Search, Twitter launched four new languages, Arabic, Farsi, Hebrew and Urdu, with the help of thirteen thousand volunteers around the globe. The new languages were added to Twitter Translation Center late January of this year. Volunteers worked hard to help twitter translate and localize Twitter and develop the ability to post right-to-left languages.

Twitter is thankful just to have such a huge following, let alone a following that would donate their time to make this translation a reality. The volunteers ranged from Saudi bloggers, Egyptian college students, BBC journalists, IT professionals, to Israeli schoolteachers and teenagers in Lebanon.

Some of the volunteers lived in places where twitter is blocked. The efforts is a  testament to how much of an impact twitter has had on our global community and how important it is for people to be connected.

Planning my Tahitian Vacation Online

by Zealous Zoe — Categories: Events — Tags: , , Comments Off

For years, I’ve wanted to visit Tahiti, and now I’m finally ready to take the plunge. To help plan my trip, I turned to MyGlobalSearch. My search for vacation packages on the useful search engine led me to several web sites that will make the planning process so much simpler than I expected. By buying a package, I avoid paying separately for my airfare, hotel and food, which saves a lot of time and confusion. There are even ones that include activities like surfing, sailing, horseback riding and scuba diving, which I’d love to try. Most of the packages offer a welcome flower lei on arrival and a shell lei on departure; I’m already excited to wear the beautiful necklaces, which are a traditional gift of greeting on the island. Tahiti is known for its gorgeous beaches with black sand, and it was actually formed from volcanic activity, an interesting fact that my search uncovered. French is the official language on the island, so I’ll have to brush up on some old textbooks before my vacation begins, but I imagine the locals will be friendly enough to help me along if I forget a few words. C’est la vie!
